Hats off to Andy Mytton for a first class LRF competition and meet-up, drawing in anglers from all over the country. Huge turn-out for any time of year (I think it was 34), but for December, with 40mph winds roaring away it was exceptional. Lots and lots of friendly faces, plus a few new to the saltwater side of light lure. Everyone appeared to be having fun. More

British Street Fishing Champion
It wasn’t easy.
The Street League was an addition to this year’s British Lure Angling Championships. Eight of the most urban BLAC qualifiers counted towards an ongoing league table of points. The higher you ranked in each, the more points you obtained. The bigger the turnout, the more points on offer.
Coming into a new season it was a big commitment upfront. Eight ‘fishing tokens’ spent before the year had even begun! But it felt right up my… err… street. More
BLAC Sea Final Weymouth
Weymouth, you excelled yourself! What an amazing venue for a species hunt. Competitors managed 17 species in 8 hours of fishing. Without bait. That’s ridiculous! More
BLAC Saltwater Plymouth
Probably the most fun I’ll ever have coming last in a species hunt. I love this place! Plymouth offers an amazing array of opportunities for the lurist / species hunter / LRFer. For me, Plymouth remains the LRF capital of the UK and I’m ashamed it’s been so long since I returned. More
Cornish Lure Festival 2015
The mileometer said 620 miles, but all except the trip home flew by. Cornwall, you are incredible. More
BLAC Q10 Bristol Docks
Ended my full-on fishing weekend at the British Lure Angling Championships qualifier at Bristol Docks. Such a cool looking water. Just a shame only a small part of it is (officially) open to fish. Be a good place to pleasure fish I reckon. Two Perch over 40cm came out during competition. Clearly a healthy water. More
BLAC Q9 Warwick GUC
Firstly a massive thanks to John Cheyne and the LACC for making today’s BLAC qualifier happen after problems with availability on the original venue.
Was a tough day with low levels of visibility but I got lucky with an early run of nice Perch before the first of the boats came through. It was then followed by a demoralising, fish-less 4 hours before I had another bite! I really find this water tough! Still, it was good enough for second place on the day. More
BLAC Q6 London GUC
Back to back BLAC. Sunday saw round 6 of the qualifiers fished on a huge stretch of the Grand Union Canal, close to the M25.More
