Weymouth, you excelled yourself! What an amazing venue for a species hunt. Competitors managed 17 species in 8 hours of fishing. Without bait. That’s ridiculous!
On the day, I managed 13 species clinching second place in the inaugural British Lure Angling Championships sea fishing final. Was pipped to the top spot by all-round nice guy, Chris Lambert, a guy that both Dan and I have had the pleasure of fishing with in the freshwater rounds of BLAC. I like the crossover these events have instigated.
Chris and I both won the Leopard-spot-lottery, adding this valuable bonus species to our tallies and maybe that’s what made the difference. Always a pleasure to bump into this elusive Goby.
Add the little Black Bream that visit this part of the world at this time of year, and you’ve got a top days angling. Think there were a fair few ‘firsts’ caught by those fishing the event. Everyone looked happy.
