What is LRF?

In fishing, the abbreviation LRF stands for Light Rock Fishing and refers to a modern style of lure-fishing using ultralight tackle to maximise fun and effectively target a wide range of fish species.

LRF originated in Japan where anglers target specific saltwater species of ‘rockfish’ with lures and casting weights up to around 7 grams. In the UK, this style has developed a broader appeal with anglers using LRF techniques to target a wide range of fish species. LRF techniques have also crossed over to freshwater disciplines, predominantly for targeting Perch.
