By all accounts, it’s been a good year for Plaice on the South Coast. Good quantities of fish means better chances of catching them on lures as these colourful flatfish compete with each other. I dropped in on a favourite mark last week and had two on XL Isome in quick succession. Okay, 18g is hardly LRF territory but often a requirement to combat the tide from the boat. I was using an LRF rod though and I’m always pleasantly surprised when a 2lb Plaice flat-sticks me and starts takes line on a crash dive. The good news is they’ve put on weight now and are fighting fit. So set those drags!
