With the bass and zander ticked off already, Masa and I had the whole of Saturday afternoon free. We had the choice of pretty much anywhere to fish south of The Midlands, on our way back home. Masa had the first idea. To fish Oxford. More
perch
LRF tackle and techniques cross over perfectly for freshwater species. None more so than the beautiful Perch. Over the past few years, more and more freshwater anglers have tried – and enjoyed – an ultralight approach to their lure fishing for Perch, many adopting LRF tackle and techniques. Subsequently, Dropshot and Micro Jigging have become hugely popular for Perch. Perch offer the LRF angler a fantastic target during the colder months of the year, when our coastline is at its quietest.

Perch on HTO Creatures
With an icy cold wind chilling the canal I thought the Perch might need a bigger meal to get them moving today. So I spent the afternoon with HTO’s creature baits – the Bug-ga and the Paddle Bug. More
Neko Rig For Perch

Chasing Perch & Pike
With the weather all over the place in recent weeks it’s been frustrating trying to find any consistency in catches. Some locations have offered up huge shoals of smaller Perch, but until today the bigger 30+ fish have been few and far between. More
Busy With HTO
Thought I’d give a little update on what I’ve been up to of late. I’ve actually been really busy. Since joining Tronix / HTO almost a month today I’ve already done three magazine features on the Perch side. One on ultralight jigging for a tackle pull-out, one on Dropshot for the Angling Times and another for AT that’s yet to be published – again on the lighter side of luring. It’s been interesting as I’ve had to very quickly adapt my tackle choices, trying to replicate the winning formula with a new range of gear. More
BLAC Q5 Hungerford
Exhausted. But what a cracking, fishing filled weekend that was.
Saturday saw nearly 50 anglers descend upon my local stretch of the Kennet & Avon Canal at Hungerford for the 5th British Lure Angling Championships qualifier this year. More
