LRF Portsmouth
Looking back at my blog, LRF doesn’t really get going until April. Or so I thought. With 5 days still left of March I can’t quite believe what a great day’s fishing I’ve just had around Portsmouth. Last year I had to drive west to find the early fish.
Fishing The Frozen Canal
With a crappy forecast ruling out the boat this weekend, Dan and I headed to a remote section of the Kennet & Avon canal for spot of Perch fishing.
Oxford Thames
With the bass and zander ticked off already, Masa and I had the whole of Saturday afternoon free. We had the choice of pretty much anywhere to fish south of The Midlands, on our way back home. Masa had the first idea. To fish Oxford.
Zander Revenge
This tale of Zander fishing starts back in early 2014 when I was lucky enough to spend some time fishing with Masaaki Fukuoka. Masa was over in the UK studying and improving his English. We fished a few times over winter and although we had fun and caught many fish, there was an unfinished bit of business. Masa had read all about the Zander fishing available in Europe and wanted to try for his first.
My First Welsh Bass
A trip to visit relatives in Carmarthenshire this weekend gifted me the opportunity to fish a picturesque estuary on the flooding tide. The end result was a nice Bass on the 15g Caro rod. My first Welsh bass! Fought really well in the shallows and has left me wanting to do more of this style of angling.
