Rock Goby
The Rock Goby is one of the most common fish encountered around the UK coastline. In terms of identification, it stands out from other common goby species by its trademark yellow-to-orange ‘Mohican’, a colourful stripe on the edge of the dorsal fin. As the name suggests, the Rock Goby does appear to prefer some kind of cover. Often rocks, but also man-made structure.
LRF Portsmouth
Looking back at my blog, LRF doesn’t really get going until April. Or so I thought. With 5 days still left of March I can’t quite believe what a great day’s fishing I’ve just had around Portsmouth. Last year I had to drive west to find the early fish.

Always good to get the hard species out the way ;0)

LRF Night Game
Drove down to Portsmouth last night to catch up with Dan and Chris. Would have been rude not to do a little Night Game.
Rainy night but wind was much lower than forecast. Fairly pleasant. 6 species in total. Bonus was a little Bass that beat the Pollack to a white Aqua Straight OTD.
As ever, find floodlights for the most fun.
