Pouting
The Pouting gets a rough deal from UK anglers. However, catch a Pout on a lure with a light LRF rod and this fish turns from zero to hero! LRF anglers love Pouting, especially large Pouting. They are obliging and put up decent resistance on the right gear. It’s unquestionable that they are predators – look at those teeth! Quite a common occurrence on flavoured lures like Isome, but in my experience the Pouting will attack most soft-plastic lures and less frequently, jigged metals.

Have to say, I really enjoyed fishing for Pout on Saturday. There, I said it! They were obliging, but not too easy. You still had to present the lure right. Good fun. A few lumps mixed in too.

Weymouth Christmas LRF Species Hunt
Hats off to Andy Mytton for a first class LRF competition and meet-up, drawing in anglers from all over the country. Huge turn-out for any time of year (I think it was 34), but for December, with 40mph winds roaring away it was exceptional. Lots and lots of friendly faces, plus a few new to the saltwater side of light lure. Everyone appeared to be having fun. More

LRF Night Game
Drove down to Portsmouth last night to catch up with Dan and Chris. Would have been rude not to do a little Night Game.
Rainy night but wind was much lower than forecast. Fairly pleasant. 6 species in total. Bonus was a little Bass that beat the Pollack to a white Aqua Straight OTD.
As ever, find floodlights for the most fun.
Boat Lure Fishing At Last
Has this been the windiest year ever? It certainly seems that way to me and lots of fishing plans have fallen by the wayside as we simply could not get out in the boat. But when the weather eventually gave us a chance recently, we filled the boat with rods and lures with the intention of getting amongst a few fish. More
