My number one favourite jig head for thin fake baits like Isome, Gulp and Ecogear Aqua is the Cultiva JH-83 Mebaru Bullet. More
Berkley Gulp
Berkley Gulp is a range of ‘fake baits’ and lures made of a biodegradable, water-based polymer that is saturated in fish-attracting liquids. Unlike standard soft-plastic lures, Gulp has pulling power and fish are less likely to reject the bait. Berkley has several ranges of Gulp, the most common being Gulp, Gulp Alive and Gulp Saltwater. Of all the various shapes available, the most common for LRF angling are; Gulp Sandworm (isome), Baby Sardine and Angle Worm. Hopefully what follows will encourage you to try these highly effective lures and baits.

What colour Isome worms work best?
We all have our favourites when it comes to flavoured lures like Marukyu Power Isome and Gulp Sandworm, but a question I see pop up again and again is, “what colour isome worms work best?” I thought it might be useful to share my catch data from the past few years. More
Whiting on Gulp Sandworm
I love catching whiting on light tackle. This one came on Berkley Gulp Sandworm fished on a Caro rig. More
Meiho Liquid Packs
With species hunt season upon us (Cornish Lure Festival this weekend), flavoured baits like Marukyu Isome, EcogearAqua and Gulp become more important in the quest for extra species. Carrying these baits and the smelly liquid they come suspended in, isn’t without its problems. The fish attracting properties of these liquids does not appear to extend to loved ones! More
Japanese Worm Hooks
A few weeks back I decided to explore the benefits of Japanese style worm hooks and purchased a few examples from Decoy, Gamakatsu and VMC. More
Lure Caught Thornback Ray
Not strictly an LRF catch but an interesting capture none-the-less. I had this Thornback Ray on a 6-inch Berkley Gulp Sandworm as we drifted for Plaice. He nailed it good and proper. Just shows you every fish is a predator. Love this stuff! More
