Some of you might already know that I sell AquaWave lures and jig heads on eBay. AquaWave products have been some of my most successful over the past few years. I’ve used everything in the range and I’m more than happy to recommend these premium Japanese products for use in the UK and Europe. AquaWave is a true JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) Light Game brand. One of the things that sets them apart is their use of TPR (Thermoplastic rubber) in their soft lure range. TPR is the stretchy, elastic-like material you might have seen in other brands’ larger lures. TPR’s two key properties are that it is buoyant, meaning you get some amazing action and unique presentations, and secondly the material is super tough and resilient to fish with teeth and beaks. The tooling required to form such tiny, intricate shapes in TPR is quite sophisticated, making AquaWave products, premium.
Because of how tough these little lures are, AquaWave lures are my first choice when targeting lots of different species in the Mediterranean. If you have already used traditional soft plastic lures in the Med, you will already understand the problem! You will find references to AquaWave lures in the many blog posts on this website recalling my holiday fishing adventures.
You’d be wrong to assume that AquaWave is just about stretchy LRF lures though. Their jig head range is right up there with the best quality Japan can offer. And their Light Game hardbaits are some of the most popular in Japan today. The Shallow Magic is a classic!
