Celebrated my 49th fish species on artificials by taking some incredibly dull photos of this Painted Goby. At least this photo shows the characteristic ‘saddles’ on the back.

LRF24 Reel Masters Species Hunt Weymouth
Another fishing hangover continues into Tuesday from the weekend and has me wondering if I am getting too old for this lark… But try and stop me when this type of fixed-time, lure-only species hunt format is just so incredibly exciting and the vibe amongst competitors is just ace!

Weymouth LRF Fundraiser Summer 2021
Searching for positivity in the February gloom? Well, good news this week in the form of a new LRF species competition planned for early July 2021, down in Weymouth.
Good For Species
Dan and I had a good day on the boat up East, chasing species on lures and artificials. Last count was 14 between us with the highlights being a Baillons for Dan and a Cuckoo Wrasse for myself. A boat Tompot is always pretty cool as well.
CLFoff Tour
With the Cornish Lure Festival cancelled for 2017, Dan, Chris and myself decided to fish it anyway! And so we began our lure-only species hunt around Cornwall for a few days.
Our Alderney Lure Festival 2016
The 3rd and 4th of September saw both local and visiting lure anglers congregate upon the beautiful island of Alderney for the annual Alderney Lure Festival. Hosted by Alderney Angling and its 4th year, it was great to hear the event was going from strength to strength, with a record turnout.
Cornish Lure Festival 2016
While I won’t remember the 2016 Cornish Lure Festival as one of my finest angling achievements, the event once again demonstrated why it is a must-do competition on the lure fishing calendar.
