Reins Aji Nyoro
One of the highlights from Saturday’s session at Swanage Pier was catching on the new Reins Aji Nyoro lure. New for the 2015 French Touch Fishing catalogue, the Aji Nyoro is a tiny 50mm eel replica. There’s a huge amount of tiny sandeel around at the moment and the Nyoro is the perfect lure to match the hatch.
Gear Of The Year 2014
Promised myself I would share my favourite gear of the year as we approach the end of 2014. And what a year it’s been! UK lure fishing has gone from strength to strength. LRF seemed to explode. Feels almost commonplace in some areas now. We gained a lure fishing series that saw our techniques and tackle tested. And more mainstream tackle manufacturers tried to get in on the act. So what did I like and why?
Recommended Perch Lures
What follows is a review of my three recommended lures for Perch, lifted from the now defunct Luretour.com:
Tackle House Shores Streamer
Not cheap, but a damn sight cheaper than they would be in Europe. How could I pass up the opportunity to have a couple of these gems in my arsenal?
Berkley Powerbait Shrug Minnow
Pure Fishing, the worldwide distributors of brands like Abu Garcia, Penn and Berkley, has its own giant show for the trade on another date, but they did have a presence at T&G and there were a few items I found interesting.
These 1.5 inch Shrug Minnows look great for LRF. They’re from Berkley’s Saltwater Powerbait range and come flavoured with the Powerbait formula. Always pleased to see something saltwater specific. This Clear Gold Fleck colour stood out.
Rapala Angry Birds
Well I wasn’t expecting this…
Rapala Angry Birds mashup!
Pretty cool.
Damiki Balhae Micro Jigs
New purchase. Appeased my metal addiction with a couple of these awesome looking Balhae micro metal jigs from Damiki. At first they looked like stretched Quantum Mahi jigs but on the reverse side to the eye they have a nice cut away design. I’m looking forward to trying them once I swap the treble over to assists.
