Hats off to Andy Mytton for a first class LRF competition and meet-up, drawing in anglers from all over the country. Huge turn-out for any time of year (I think it was 34), but for December, with 40mph winds roaring away it was exceptional. Lots and lots of friendly faces, plus a few new to the saltwater side of light lure. Everyone appeared to be having fun.

Sand Goby
In the depths of dark December, there was no real expectation to add to my yearly species tally, but Weymouth delivered a pretty little Sand Goby as its Christmas present to me. Just shows you, you just need to get out there and fish!
Hope these pictures may help someone with identifying Sand Gobies.
Whiting on Gulp Sandworm
41cm 3lb 2oz Perch
Over the moon! Certainly the longest Perch I’ve had out the Kennet & Avon Canal. 41cm to the fork. 3lb 2oz. In beautiful condition. Where has she been hiding all this time?!
Perching with George Cunningham (HTO)
Without doubt, George Cunningham has had a huge influence on the state of light lure fishing here in the UK. George’s homegrown HTO brand has made it possible for thousands of people to try out LRF and ultralight fishing, without breaking the bank, discovering the addictive fun of these methods. By all accounts, the HTO Rockfish UL remains one of the best selling spinning rods of all time. So, when my threat of taking George Perch fishing on the Kennet & Avon finally looked like a goer last week, we were both really looking forward to it.
