An hours impromptu LRFing in Weymouth yesterday, led to this nice looking flounder – a PB for me on the lure.
I’m afraid there wasn’t anything exciting about the technique – split shot rig and Isome section – but what was exciting was the fact I saw the fish and sight cast. The fish was part buried in sand but as soon as the worm came bouncing past, the fish sprang into life and nailed it. It was one of those sequences that hopefully stays with you for a very long time.
Thanks to Will and Lolly from Next Generation Angling for highlighting the flounder potential of Weymouth – get the low-down here

Cheers for the mention mate, glad you had some luck on the flounder, the cold weather has really brought them on in good numbers the past week. Next time your fishing Weymouth drop me a call and I shall try and join you for a session.

Nice fish, out of interest how far out were you fishing/casting ?
I’ve had some great fun fishing for flatties from piers but not tried from an open beach yet.

Hi Diarmuid. Thanks for your comment. Not very far out at all. Perhaps 15-20 metres. It’s like the saying goes, that most beach anglers cast over the fish. It’s only since I started with LRF that I’ve realised just how accurate that is. Tight lines
