My First Japanese Rockfish
For those that don’t follow my Facebook updates, I’m currently having the time of my life, on holiday in Japan.
Over the past few years I have done so much research on Japanese fishing styles, visited so many Japanese websites, gawped at countless Japanese fishing products and tried (and mostly failed) to decipher lots of Japanese text, that I have become rather fascinated by Japan and its people. So here I am!
LRF in Saint-Nazaire
16th February 2014 was a day I’ll remember for a long time. After two enjoyable days at Salon des Peches en Mer in Nantes, getting acquainted with all the latest lure fishing tackle, we decided to have some fun fishing.
LRF in Spain
Over visiting my mother in Spain at the moment. Got the chance to fish for a few hours today. Nothing too serious – just a bit of fun with a handful of tackle and a pack of Isome. As ever, my mum caught the best fish of the day! #standardÂ
Light Rock Fishing in Rhodes
I’ve said it before but worth repeating, I think light rock fishing gear is perfect for fun fishing on your summer holidays.
Myself and the good lady headed off to Rhodes in Greece for a week and of course I packed some LRF equipment – mainly Reins lures and a pack of Isome.
LRF St Malo
Managed a half-hearted LRF session in St Malo before catching the ferry back to Portsmouth. Tide and temperature were not on my side but I was determined to catch a fish, so set my sights high with a goby. Job done. Pretty ordinary Black Goby, but a great backdrop. Looking forward to returning one day for a proper go at it – look at all that structure!
Sun….Sea and Travel Rods
Spending a few weeks away from the great British summer with my better half has traditionally been a fishing free affair. After all, keeping the ‘boss’ happy is the key to earning a few fishing tokens somewhere down the line and us anglers are nothing if not good at thinking ahead. Lure fishing for me and more specifically LRF though has now meant that the earning of ‘fishing tokens’ (on holiday at least) has been put on hold and I can sneak out for an hours fishing wherever in the world my good lady has been good enough to book up – provided there is a bit of water nearby. So with a borrowed Sonik 3-10g travel rod, a handful of lures / soft-baits and a bit of terminal tackle I tried my best to find a foreign fish or two in Northern Italy
