Still fighting the windy conditions down on the South Coast. Not easy fishing an elevated position in the wind but we managed a few Scad on Saturday night – still sub-1g heads. Dan was fishing the OG Reins Aji Ringer Shad while I continued with my current in-form lure, the Reins Aji Meat.

Scad Madness
It’s that time of year once again. The Scad (Horse Mackerel) have descended on the South Coast in numbers and offer great sport for the light lure angler. I’ve already had good sport on the boat during the daytime and from the shore at night. Have a go for them if you can.

Nice to get some ‘Aji Action’ tonight with Scad falling for lots of different lure fishing methods after dark. Seen here on the HTO measure.
Horse Mackerel at Weymouth
Great little session with Chris Wheeler in Weymouth on Saturday night. Wind dropped away to nothing for a couple of hours around midnight and we were able to fish delicate Aji-type lures on jigheads, using the curve fall method, on-the-drop (OTD). We picked up the desired Horse Mackerel (Scad), Mackerel and some decent sized Pollack, plus the odd tiny Whiting caught well off the bottom. Really enjoyed it.
