Bass and Blue Skies
It’s all too rare to get a day fishing with both the weather AND the fish. What a cracking day! This thin, but very welcome Bass took a Spro Mini Bucktail Jig skipped across a sandy ledge. An ultralight approach proving that clear, bright conditions aren’t so tough after all. 4lb fluorocarbon leader. 7g rod. Great fun.
Smelt on Isome Tail
A small section of white / pink Isome darting through the water column looks a lot like a fleeing shrimp or fry. Smelt go crazy for this technique!
Ultralight Boat
With practice it’s amazing what you can get away with on the boat. This beautifully marked Ballan Wrasse was fooled at slack tide fishing a 2.3g Shirasu jighead in 9m of water.
Ecogear SS Minnow
Picked up these SS Minnows in Japan, although I’m sure I’ve seen them in Blighty before now.
Really like the look of them.
Japanese Dace / Ugui
Perhaps not my finest hour in terms of fish care, but despite his run-in, my first Ugui (Japanese Dace) went back strongly after a rushed photo.
