Myself, Paul Fenech and Paul Dennis shared a really enjoyable afternoon on Sanibel Island. After acquiring our saltwater licenses we went exploring and ended up at Sanibel Lighthouse – an angling spot of some fame as it turns out. A 90 minute Night Game session at Poole Quay resulted in some good fun with the local Pollack population. All fish were caught in the top third of the water column. A couple of big Smelt even managed to inhale the size 8.
Best of all, and what really gave me payback for braving the drizzle was witnessing ragworm spawning on the surface. I’ve only ever seen this once before and never as clearly as this. Couldn’t understand why they weren’t getting smashed by the Pollack.
One of the highlights from Saturday’s session at Swanage Pier was catching on the new Reins Aji Nyoro lure. New for the 2015 French Touch Fishing catalogue, the Aji Nyoro is a tiny 50mm eel replica. There’s a huge amount of tiny sandeel around at the moment and the Nyoro is the perfect lure to match the hatch. More
