My Shimano Stella 3000 FE has seen quite a few years of action. It’s been absolutely solid. In addition to its durability, the stand-out feature is its drag. Really, really smooth with very little start-up time and therefore perfect for light line applications.
3000 might sound large, but with Shimano spinning reels a 3000 is just a higher line capacity than the 2500 – a deeper spool. While that really isn’t required for saltwater fishing here in the UK, it doesn’t cause me any issues if I use enough backing. This reel mainly gets used for HRF duties, but does occasionally get used for casting duties for light metals and Caro.
