Corkwing with Anilocra Parasite
I captured this poor Corkwing Wrasse that was host to a fairly large Anilocra parasite – a type of isopod. Was able to carefully remove the parasite and release the fish.
When I was still a young and proud forban foaming fishing rod in hand the jagged ribs of Brittany, well before moulting me in this weak-willed old thing able to hesitate in front of a third pint, such parasites were often found on wrasse I caught and those repugnant little animals were sometimes bigger than this one ;)
To be honest, I was fishing at these times very close from “l’île Longue” near Brest, the nest of the french atomic submarines. Maybe a beginning of a logical explanation, who knows…
