With a widening gap between myself and the others fishing the Lure Heaven UK Species Hunt and the summer life draining out of the sea on a daily basis now, I headed west to Plymouth at the weekend to see how many ‘summer’ species I could tick off before they left our shores. Even with limited time between girlfriend duties the Barbican area didn’t disappoint. Without deviating too far from the lethal split shot rig I managed a total of 10 species, including 7 new ones for the comp and a first for me – a Goldsinny Wrasse. At times it felt like there was a carpet of fish on the seabed. It really is a great venue for LRF, especially if you’re starting out and want to get your confidence up.
