Texas rigging is a common rig for lure fishing, especially if you need to present a weedless / snagless offering, via an offset hook. An offset hook is most often a wide gape hook with a kink in the shank, near the eye. More
In my last post I mentioned I was playing with JungleGym’s ‘Be Free Texas’ rig. So far so good. It’s a glorified weedless Texas rig but using JungleGym’s Bean Sinker and their ringed offset hook (Ring Rocker). With the addition of stop a few inches above the weight (Move Stopper) you have a kind of bolt rig. More
Braved the extreme cold today for 30 minutes while visiting Newbury. Wasn’t hopeful but I was gagging to try out some of my new lures. I fished a 3″ Reins Bubbling Shad in Marble Chart Orange, Texas with a 3.5g brass cone weight. Only managed a dozen casts before my hands froze but got a couple of follows from a decent trout and landed this little Pike. Great fun on the LRF gear. I will be back!
