Perch
LRF tackle and techniques cross over perfectly for freshwater species. None more so than the beautiful Perch. Over the past few years, more and more freshwater anglers have tried – and enjoyed – an ultralight approach to their lure fishing for Perch, many adopting LRF tackle and techniques. Subsequently, Dropshot and Micro Jigging have become hugely popular for Perch. Perch offer the LRF angler a fantastic target during the colder months of the year, when our coastline is at its quietest.
Perch on Skirted Jig
It was only a quick trial but managed to prove that Perch are interested in skirted jigs. Second cast. Boom! Nice old fish by the looks of it.

Really enjoying the canal right now. Trying a new stretch this year. Lots of small Perch and plenty of Jack Pike are keeping me busy while I hunt for a 40cm+
39cm Perch – Biggest So Far
My biggest Perch so far this season. A 39cm fish caught on an Ecogear Large Grass Minnow, fished weedless.
Berkley Powerbait Perch Lures
Two more lures from Berkley Powerbait that caught my eye. Would be happy using either of these 2-inch lures on the UL for the Perch. Both the Gotam Shad and the Drop Shot Minnow feature holographic flash and bright colours – ideal for the canal.
