Finally the fishing has improved to a point where if I don’t catch I’m probably doing something wrong. Not a lot of variation in species though at the moment with Wrasse and Scorpos seemingly everywhere and dominating the harbour LRF stuff since the start of June in my part of the world.
As I write this the football season has ended, the sun is shining and Daft Punk have released an album that gives me sunburn just listening to it. All of these things suggest that summer is fast approaching, Bream time!
Black Bream caught on a Cultiva metal micro jig
Not an unusual fish for most LRF anglers but this one (and a few others) was noteworthy because it was caught in 10m of water from the boat. An scaled up split shot rig (5g) was used to present an Ecogear Aqua Straight.
Being landlocked for the weekend meant a trip to the canal was in order. Unfortunately on arrival I was immediately reminded of the poor water clarity once the boat traffic gets going at this time of year. Disappointed and with confidence knocked I fished on and felt lucky to save the blank with this Perch. Time for a re-think.
