About Adam Kirby
Hi. My name is Adam Kirby and this is my LRF blog. I've been angling for nearly 30 years now. The first 20 of which were almost entirely focused on sea angling, fishing around my home town of Portsmouth. I still regard myself as a sea angler, but the boundaries have blurred a little. Probably best described as an all-round lure angler these days. Across both freshwater and salt. I've had decent success on the freshwater lure competition scene where I transferred my ultralight, LRF approach to targeting Perch on the inland waterways. If you've not tried this yet, you must give it a go. In 2015 I was crowned 'British Street Fishing Champion' after a series of events fished across the country.
I've always enjoyed the variety of fish species available in the sea and I've worked hard to catch over 40 UK saltwater species on lure. My motto is simple. “Fish for what’s in front of you. Big or small, love them all.”
Nice find at a Japanese wholesaler in Osaka. First time I’ve seen custom reel parts for the Revo spinning reel platform. This Revo 2000 RS74 SP Kit from Abu Works looked super dope!
Seen in Fishing 1Ban tackle shop, North Osaka. Already fallen in love. Tiny, tiny, tiny, Shimano Soare CI4 500S, pimped with Thirty34Four’s dope Zerogra III double handle and Balancer.
With the first proper frost the water clarity is already much better on the canal, mainly down to less boat traffic. The last couple of trips to the K&A have seen good numbers of fish, big and small.
With a mild autumn there’s still lots of boat activity on the canal leading to poor water clarity. I’ve done well with dark coloured creature baits, including a great little session on the Hart Curly, seen here.
We had a dozen or so Cuckoo Wrasse from the boat last weekend. Both male and female fish. Their bizarre colour-schemes make them a super interesting catch. A great LRF target. Particularly aggressive.
