Had the pleasure of fishing LRF with Ben Field from The Art of Fishing on his home patch, North Cornwall. Very different fishing to my own and I learned a lot about fishing this unsheltered coastline. We caught Pollack, Mackerel and Ben had a small Bass. I got a beating – but I will be back! :o)

Everyone loves catching Mackerel. A pelagic summer visitor to our coast. Catch a Mackerel on a light LRF setup and you will discover the true power and speed of this species. Being pelagic (swimming up in the water column), Mackerel are best targeted with cast and retrieve methods. Micro-jigs and metals make huge sense here with no Mackerel able to pass up the flash of your metal jig. Mackerel will also take paddletails and other soft-plastics fished at speed in the surface layers.
