Pollack are one of the core target species of LRF in the British Isles. Member of the cod family, most of the Pollack we catch are around one or two pounds in weight, but much bigger specimens do turn up from time to time – normally in the colder months. Pollack can be caught on a broad range of lures and techniques, but they are especially susceptible to sink-and-draw methods with metals and paddletails.

Drove down to Portsmouth last night to catch up with Dan and Chris. Would have been rude not to do a little Night Game.
Rainy night but wind was much lower than forecast. Fairly pleasant. 6 species in total. Bonus was a little Bass that beat the Pollack to a white Aqua Straight OTD.
As ever, find floodlights for the most fun.
The weather gods were not best pleased with the group of anglers that ventured out to fish the 2014 Alderney 24 Hour Lure Only Species Hunt. Strong easterly winds hampered everyone's progress the whole weekend but did nothing to dampen everyone's enthusiasm. Alderney has a lot to offer, even in tough conditions. Read more
After entering the Species Hunt competition for the first time last year, I'd managed to pass on my enthusiasm for the event to mates, Dan and Chris. Estelle enjoyed last year, even as a non-fisher, and was along for the ride again too. So with a rough plan built around the far from perfect forecast, and the two productive marks I'd garnered last year, we all met up in deepest, darkest Cornwall. Exciting! Read more
