Pike
Traditionally speaking, Pike are perhaps not best suited to LRF and UL tactics. However, there’s no denying that catching a small ‘Jack Pike’ is a whole lot more enjoyable on a light lure set-up. A wire trace must be used if targeting Pike, due to their incredibly sharp teeth. With a little luck, a chance encounter with a larger specimen can provide sport that is hard to beat. In my area, Pike find it hard to resist a white or bright paddletail fished slowly with a straight retrieve.
Pike on Creature Bait
It was tough going yesterday, but with my favourite stretch of canal still well and truly open I wanted to christen a new LRF rod. More
Little Pike on LRF Gear
Braved the extreme cold today for 30 minutes while visiting Newbury. Wasn’t hopeful but I was gagging to try out some of my new lures. I fished a 3″ Reins Bubbling Shad in Marble Chart Orange, Texas with a 3.5g brass cone weight. Only managed a dozen casts before my hands froze but got a couple of follows from a decent trout and landed this little Pike. Great fun on the LRF gear. I will be back!
