perch

LRF tackle and techniques cross over perfectly for freshwater species. None more so than the beautiful Perch. Over the past few years, more and more freshwater anglers have tried – and enjoyed – an ultralight approach to their lure fishing for Perch, many adopting LRF tackle and techniques. Subsequently, Dropshot and Micro Jigging have become hugely popular for Perch. Perch offer the LRF angler a fantastic target during the colder months of the year, when our coastline is at its quietest.

Day on the K&A

Masaaki at Crofton

Enjoyable day on the K&A with Masa. Covered some miles. Caught some fish.

Early Spawning Perch

Spawning Perch

Despite Perch traditionally spawning April-May time, our mild winter and warm conditions over this weekend's full moon appear to have got my local Perch excited. I had a few Perch like this on Sunday showing signs of spawning: bloated, red tinged body, swollen vent, milky colour on head.

Meet Masaaki

Great day today in tough conditions. Had the pleasure of meeting up with Masaaki Fukuoka from Japan. Read more

Perch on Skirted Jig

It was only a quick trial but managed to prove that Perch are interested in skirted jigs. Second cast. Boom! Nice old fish by the looks of it.

More Freshwater Snaps

Really enjoying the canal right now. Trying a new stretch this year. Lots of small Perch and plenty of Jack Pike are keeping me busy while I hunt for a 40cm+
