perch

LRF tackle and techniques cross over perfectly for freshwater species. None more so than the beautiful Perch. Over the past few years, more and more freshwater anglers have tried – and enjoyed – an ultralight approach to their lure fishing for Perch, many adopting LRF tackle and techniques. Subsequently, Dropshot and Micro Jigging have become hugely popular for Perch. Perch offer the LRF angler a fantastic target during the colder months of the year, when our coastline is at its quietest.

41cm 3lb 2oz Perch

3lb 2oz Canal Perch

Over the moon! Certainly the longest Perch I've had out the Kennet & Avon Canal. 41cm to the fork. 3lb 2oz. In beautiful condition. Where has she been hiding all this time?!

Lure was the HTO Flail. This time in orange. An active decision on colour after seeing how well Dan did on worm imitations the week before.

One on ultralight jigging for a tackle pull-out, one on Dropshot for the Angling Times and another for AT that's yet to be published - again on the lighter side of luring. It's been interesting as I've had to very quickly adapt my tackle choices, trying to replicate the winning formula with a new range of gear. Read more

4 Species at Hungerford Town

Bream on Reins Lure

Weird couple of hours down Hungerford Town today. Managed four species on unscented plastics including two Bream, a Ruffe and a Gudgeon, which is only my second ever.
