Mackerel caught with a Gary Yamamoto Tiny Ika on a Sakura Makaira jighead
Everyone loves catching Mackerel. A pelagic summer visitor to our coast. Catch a Mackerel on a light LRF setup and you will discover the true power and speed of this species. Being pelagic (swimming up in the water column), Mackerel are best targeted with cast and retrieve methods. Micro-jigs and metals make huge sense here with no Mackerel able to pass up the flash of your metal jig. Mackerel will also take paddletails and other soft-plastics fished at speed in the surface layers.
Nice Mackerel caught inside the harbour on a white Reins paddletail
Really love these Mahi jigs by Quantum. Great fish catchers and good value too
