Drove down to Portsmouth last night to catch up with Dan and Chris. Would have been rude not to do a little Night Game.
Rainy night but wind was much lower than forecast. Fairly pleasant. 6 species in total. Bonus was a little Bass that beat the Pollack to a white Aqua Straight OTD.
As ever, find floodlights for the most fun.
After entering the Species Hunt competition for the first time last year, I’d managed to pass on my enthusiasm for the event to mates, Dan and Chris. Estelle enjoyed last year, even as a non-fisher, and was along for the ride again too. So with a rough plan built around the far from perfect forecast, and the two productive marks I’d garnered last year, we all met up in deepest, darkest Cornwall. Exciting! Read more
Well I’m delighted to say that the 2014 LRF season has finally started down on the south coast. I ended up having a fairly hectic, but great week of fishing – starting out on the boat, fishing some of our inshore marks towards Selsey, then shooting down to Brixham for some Light Game fun and then finally to my home town of Portsmouth for a mixture of LRF fishing styles. Enjoyable day in Portsmouth light rock fishing. Huge amount of Shanny on the split shot rig, plus some small wrasse. Finished with some dropshot action chasing Scorpions. Non-stop fun!
