I was lucky enough to find a couple of these juvenile grouper lurking at the bottom of a quay in Skopelos, Greece. I believe them to be Goldblotch Grouper (Epinephelus costae), which I think is a first for me. You can’t help but love grouper. A proper rockfish! They both aggressively took small paddletails fished on 1g jigheads.
greece
We love holidaying in Greece. Fishing in Greece plays a big part in the enjoyment. Of course the colourful fish species, the crystal clear waters and the amazing scenery, but also the relaxed nature of the Greek Islands. I can say I have enjoyed all my time fishing in Greece. Both shore fishing and a bit of boat fishing from the self-drive boats. What follows is a list of catch reports from previous trips, featuring photos of various Greek fish species to help you identify your catch.
LRF Amberjack
Probably the best sport I had in Skopelos was that offered by a tenacious little pack of juvenile Amberjack. Not particularly hard to hook-up once you found them – the faster the better! Super aggressive and great fun once hooked. More
Light Rock Fishing in Skiathos
Back from our summer holiday in the Greek Isles and the fishing was as fruitful as always. It was my first time to Skiathos but finding fish was easy. They were everywhere! More
LRF Dolphin Fish
One of my favourite captures of all time. Dolphin Fish, aka the Mahi Mahi or Dorado. More
Light Rock Fishing in Rhodes
I’ve said it before but worth repeating, I think light rock fishing gear is perfect for fun fishing on your summer holidays.
Myself and the good lady headed off to Rhodes in Greece for a week and of course I packed some LRF equipment – mainly Reins lures and a pack of Isome. More
