Flounder
The humble Flounder is on most anglers lure-caught, target species lists. A shallow water specialist predator, Flounder can be targeted easily from the shore with LRF gear, if you know where they feed. An inquisitive fish that will follow lures all the way to the surface. Worm, shrimp and crab lure patterns all have their day. Nothing beats sight casting to these fish when you get the opportunity in clear water.

Weymouth Christmas LRF Species Hunt
Hats off to Andy Mytton for a first class LRF competition and meet-up, drawing in anglers from all over the country. Huge turn-out for any time of year (I think it was 34), but for December, with 40mph winds roaring away it was exceptional. Lots and lots of friendly faces, plus a few new to the saltwater side of light lure. Everyone appeared to be having fun. More
Night Games at West Bay
Saturday night saw me hatching a plan to administer a Flounder smackdown. Wedged between my Lulworth wrasse-a-thon in the morning and the Bristol BLAC qualifier the next day, I settled on West Bay, in Dorset. More
Cornish Lure Festival 2014
It’s a week since the kick off of the 2014 Cornish Lure Festival and I have to say I’m not sure I’ve recovered yet – it was EPIC
After entering the Species Hunt competition for the first time last year, I’d managed to pass on my enthusiasm for the event to mates, Dan and Chris. Estelle enjoyed last year, even as a non-fisher, and was along for the ride again too. So with a rough plan built around the far from perfect forecast, and the two productive marks I’d garnered last year, we all met up in deepest, darkest Cornwall. Exciting! More
