Awesome time in Dorset this weekend. There were Corkwing Wrasse EVERYWHERE! Catching anything else was a challenge. However, hard to be annoyed by a fish as pretty as this.

After entering the Species Hunt competition for the first time last year, I’d managed to pass on my enthusiasm for the event to mates, Dan and Chris. Estelle enjoyed last year, even as a non-fisher, and was along for the ride again too. Dan Sissons with a nice little Black Bream tempted by red Marukyu Isome fished dropshot.
I’ve somehow beautifully avoided Weevers until now. But very pleased to tick off the Lesser Weever on this year’s species list. Numero 20 in fact. Lure was an XL Marukyu Isome fished on a 10g jighead on the drift.
Watch out youngsters (and not so youngsters) – these are poisonous! Not worthy of abuse, but watch yourselves and go careful.
