Light Rock Fishing in Skopelos

Small Red Scorpionfish

As always, an awesome weeks holiday in Greece. This time on the island of Skopelos. Amazing how much fun you can have with just a travel rod, a spinning reel and a small bag of lures. Read more

Goldblotch Grouper
I was lucky enough to find a couple of these juvenile grouper lurking at the bottom of a quay in Skopelos, Greece. I believe them to be Goldblotch Grouper (Epinephelus costae), which I think is a first for me. You can’t help but love grouper. A proper rockfish! They both aggressively took small paddletails fished on 1g jigheads.

LRF Really Getting Going

Corkwing on HTO Knight Worm

Really feels like LRF is firing now. The water feels alive. Loads of mini sandeel and fry about. With it a huge amount of aggressive species. Good array of fish hitting non-flavoured lures. Nice to see the shoal bass have returned. Could this be why I didn’t catch a single goby all weekend? Or maybe just out-competed by the wrasse.
