Kennet & Avon Perch

With a crappy forecast ruling out the boat this weekend, Dan and I headed to a remote section of the Kennet & Avon canal for spot of Perch fishing. It was a cold start and we were greeted with the majority of the canal frozen over. However the sections with moving water were open and there was the odd break in the ice that allowed for vertical jigging here and there.

Given the freezing conditions, I was surprised by the amount of action. The Perch were active, in good numbers. Predominantly small fish, but we did find a 36cm to briefly warm us up.

My phone app says I notched up 47 Perch. 41 of them on the Stink Pots Paddle Tail and 1g Maikuro jighead combo. Rod of choice was the the sublime Rock n Force 5g. It’s a peach.
