World Predator Classic

After 3 hours sleep, today has been a long day. But a good one. Spent the day becoming acclimatised with the beautiful town of Hellevoetsluis. It was apparent from the word go that this event has been very well organised. The World Predator Classic crew have completely taken over the town.

After a hot chocolate in town square, watching all the hustle and bustle, and a mooch through the town’s well stocked tackle shop we were ready to explore. Competitors were steadily arriving into town with some impressive bass boats on show. I didn’t know I needed a bass boat until today!

We watched the final tweaks being made to the huge presentation arena and sponsors displays. The stage, huge TV screens and sound system are grade A. The resident DJ was bangin’ out some Dutch house music and we were instantly glad we’d brought along our raving shoes. The evenings are going to be fun!

By this time we were aching to wet a line. And while we’re surrounded by a world class fishery we actually ended up fishing the cut at the bottom of our apartment’s garden! Okay, the fishing didn’t set the world alight, but we figured this was a lot harder than the prime waterways we expect on the day of the street fishing comp. We had a little friendly match, trying to out-do the other on micro perch.

Fishing in the Garden

Ended the day watching the parade of competitors boats through town, followed by the official opening ceremony of the tournament. It was a big occasion. It seemed like the entire town was out to support it.

A great day topped off by meeting an idol of mine – Jan Porter. Legend. What a man.

We’ll start winding things up a notch or two tomorrow, after some shut eye. Peace. Over and out.
